Picture is locked and we’ve been working hard on distribution plans. Now time to get up a real website (watch for that in the next month). Also, we have some exciting announcements about how/when this film will be able to be seen.
Lots is happening in the film industry. Exciting changes and opportunities for independent filmmakers.
The few industry insiders that have seen the film are pretty psyched by how it turned out. I am too. Now I’m anxious to share.
I’m in San Antonio Airport and thinking about how fast things are starting to develop for Ride the Divide. I can’t release details, but a producer on the project might be finalizing details regarding the World Premiere of the film in June.
I also just finished with a handful of days here (well, in Austin) at SXSW, where I met with many big players who are interested in this film. I think the combo of scenery, niche audience (biking), and solid character-based story is really going to position this film well.
Gotta get back to editing. I miss “being” in those Rockies.
I’m working on some edits right now for day 13. It’s been an interesting post production process so far. For 10 MPH and 10 Yards, I worked with Josh and a decent-sized crew. But for this film, I’ve been working mostly with Mike. We are talking about who we’re going to line up for sound, graphics, and everything else, but for now I’m enjoying how streamlined everything feels.
About a year ago, Mike approach Hunter about a film he was interested in making. He had heard about 10 MPH and thought Hunter might have some good input. He was getting ready to leave his corporate gig with Starz! and figured he’d try to make an impact on his own.
Mike told Hunter about a 2711 mile mountain bike race he was going to attempt to do. It was totally self-supported and only a few dozen people had ever tried to do it. Besides the intensity of the mountain biking experience, he knew there would be unimaginable beauty and hidden stories all throughout the Great Rockies.
In June of 2008, Hunter and Mike assembled a team and set out to shoot one of the greatest mountain experiences of all time. Mike also competed in the race.
